We left the car at our lodge and took the\u00a0cablecar <br \/>up to Croix de Culet to walk down to the start of the race. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0300_100238463.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0303_100240585.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To make it possible for all the spectators to watch the race they have <br \/>built a special spectator trail beside the actual race course. <\/p>\n<p>Champery World Cup downhill course is known\u00a0to be\u00a0one of the hardest <br \/>you can run and they recomend you to not even think about riding it <br \/>unless you are a World Cup rider. We could easily understand why. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0322_100265775.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here a short video from the uper part of the course: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OHIyuWNtDxc\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OHIyuWNtDxc<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The course was really wet and muddy and the pictures and movie doesn\u00b4t really <br \/>show how step and hard it was.\u00a0I\u00b4m a beginner on downhill\u00a0but I think everyone <br \/>that was there where more than impressed with the riders.\u00a0On the way down we <br \/>saw a familiar face behind a big camera. Chris Patient from Zermatt came over <br \/>for the day to get some good shots. It is not easy to capture\u00a0biking I must say.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Walking down\u00a0was\u00a0hard even though they built the special trail. It was so muddy <br \/>people were getting stuck in the\u00a0mud at some places and sliding down at other.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0318_100250772.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0323_100251097.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Half way down we saw a helicopter that came to bring down a rider that <br \/>fell badly. From what we heard they also had to bring down a spectator that <br \/>slipped. <\/p>\n<p>It was a very good atmosphere and the further down we came the more <br \/>people were there to watch. We heard a figure of 8000 paying visitors. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0343_100253675.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The winner for the men Gee Atherton made it down in 4 min and 2 sec. <br \/>It is insane how fast they are going considering the steepness and the state <br \/>of the course. <\/p>\n<p>When the race was over we came down to the goal area\u00a0where you could <br \/>walk around and look at the different bikes and parts and everything else <br \/>you need for biking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some of the riders were signing posters for their fans. Three french women were <br \/>top three for the women and two britts and a south african in top three <br \/>for the men. I was lucky to <br \/>win\u00a0a price in a drawing that the Valais Road Show had in Stockholm\u00a0<br \/>together with Swiss Tourisme,\u00a0a luxury apartment in the Lodge in Champery <br \/>just 300\u00a0meters from the cable\u00a0car.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0367_100264431.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had three bedrooms and would have loved to\u00a0fill it up with some more<br \/>friends.\u00a0It is a\u00a0shame to have a big place like this to ourselves, but since\u00a0<br \/>we were alone we choosed to stay in the master bedroom\u00a0; )<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.cdnme.se\/cdn\/9-1\/490171\/images\/2010\/img_0364_100264836.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We even had our own jacuzzi outside.\u00a0I think this is a great place for smaller <br \/>groups, friends or families. You have everything you need here and can <br \/>choose to stay home and cook or go out and eat.
