Having a day extra for ski touring in the<br \/>\nValtellina area, I asked my friend and tourist director of Valchiavenna, Federico, where<br \/>\nto go. Some other nice locals agreed with him, but without any specially convincing<br \/>\nglimpse in their eyes. So the expectations were luckily not set too high this time neither.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinelegends.se\/blogg\/2013\/03\/another-hidden-pearl\/dscn0122\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7906\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7906\" alt=\"DSCN0122\" src=\"https:\/\/alpinelegends.se\/wordpress\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN0122-404x276.jpg\" width=\"404\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But when reaching the end of the icy road and putting on the skins at 2 000 msl, and start<br \/>\nascending the vaste valley up to Rifugio Ca\u00b4Runcasch, my mind was filled with joy and the<br \/>\nscenery was just providing a huge rush. In the background you can see the ski area of<br \/>\nValmalenco, not too bad or small at all, even if not big. And the impressive Bernina massive<br \/>\nlining the horizon. The walls surrounding the Piano di Campagneda that I was crossing were<br \/>\noffering a number of nice long descents. The favorite tour called Pizzo Scalino reaching<br \/>\nthe glacier above 3 000 msl. My itinerary lead me to the peak of Cornetto at 2 800 meters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinelegends.se\/blogg\/2013\/03\/another-hidden-pearl\/img_4848\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7911\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7911\" alt=\"IMG_4848\" src=\"https:\/\/alpinelegends.se\/wordpress\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_4848-321x321.jpg\" width=\"202\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinelegends.se\/blogg\/2013\/03\/another-hidden-pearl\/img_4856\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7912\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7912\" alt=\"IMG_4856\" src=\"https:\/\/alpinelegends.se\/wordpress\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_4856-321x321.jpg\" width=\"202\" height=\"202\" \/> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Passing by the spectacular and beautifully situated Rifugio Ca\u00b4Runcasch just above<br \/>\nthe tree level. And signor Hultberg reaching the peak of the day, Cornetto.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinelegends.se\/blogg\/2013\/03\/another-hidden-pearl\/dscn0117\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7914\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7914\" alt=\"DSCN0117\" src=\"https:\/\/alpinelegends.se\/wordpress\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN0117-229x321.jpg\" width=\"404\" height=\"564\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The few tracks coming down the wonderful slopes from Cornetto, and a band of Italian ski<br \/>\ntourers ripping down. The run was divided into five pitches, in pure powdersnow galore.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinelegends.se\/blogg\/2013\/03\/another-hidden-pearl\/dscn0141\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7916\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7916\" alt=\"DSCN0141\" src=\"https:\/\/alpinelegends.se\/wordpress\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN0141-404x318.jpg\" width=\"404\" height=\"318\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a rather tiring expedition I had to fill up with drinks at the rifugio. The owner<br \/>\nwas happy for some company. Even if we were only two hours from Milano, and<br \/>\nclose to the north shore of the Como lake, in a beautiful place, there was no one<br \/>\nelse around. The hut has nice rooms of 2 or 4 beds. www.caruncasch.it<br \/>\nAfter the nice run down it was time to discover the ski area and then the village Chiesa.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinelegends.se\/blogg\/2013\/03\/another-hidden-pearl\/img_4863\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7917\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7917\" alt=\"IMG_4863\" src=\"https:\/\/alpinelegends.se\/wordpress\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_4863-404x301.jpg\" width=\"404\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After some awesome runs in the ski area, and a loop around the village, of course<br \/>\nI ended up in the most impressive wine cantina ever.
